The first part of the program consists of 40 hours of theory learning material. The second part of the program consists of 110 hours of practical exposure and work on live horses through a remote externship
The Certified Equine Ergonomist (CEE) program equips equine practitioners with a rigorous, evidence-based framework for assessing saddle fit to horse and rider and its broader biomechanical implications. The program is consists of two phases: Theory: In-depth online modules covering saddle history, design, materials, biomechanics, anatomy of horse and rider, compensatory patterns, and the foundational principles behind the 80+ point evaluation system.

Practical Externship: Students complete 30 case studies using horses they have access to, to apply the theoretical framework, including measuring these horses for saddle fit and evaluating the fit of the saddle to horse and rider statically and dynamically. These cases are submitted for instructor review, feedback, and revision until proficiency is demonstrated.

Through the externship phase students receive 1-on-1 mentorship through Saddlefit 4 Life trainers.

Graduates of the program will reliably be able to:

– Apply the 80+ Point Saddle Fit Evaluation System, a systematic, repeatable method covering static and dynamic assessments of horse, rider, and saddle.

– Take and interpret precise anatomical measurements (e.g. shoulders, withers) to detect asymmetries, monitor topline changes, and guide objective saddle recommendations.

– Understand whole-body influences, including posture, hoof angles, muscular development, compensation, and integrate these insights into saddle-fitting decisions.

– Diagnose root causes of saddle-related discomfort, educate clients with clarity, and propose evidence-based solutions rather than generic fixes.

Equine practitioners can directly apply these skills, integrating saddle fit assessment into holistic biomechanical evaluations to enhance the effectiveness of manual adjustments, soft-tissue therapies, and rehabilitation protocols.
